This interview took place on October 19, 2024
Hello, I’m Natalie by the way. Nice to meet you all. I’m here with the band LØNE if you all want to introduce yourselves.
[Ramar] Hi, I’m Ramar. I also go by Yona.
[Tony] I’m Tony, lead guitarist.
[Mias] Jeremias, or just Mias, drummer.
[Andrew] I’m Andrew Lugo. I’m the bassist.
[Ramar] Oh shit I didn’t say I was the – I’m the lead vocalist by the way.
Okay, nice! So, I just wanted to ask, what does music mean to all of you, and why does it matter enough for you guys to have a band and be out here performing?
[Ramar] It’s like life or death to me. I just love it. I can’t live without it. And then, performing with my friends is so like – it brings it all together. It makes me like very, very, very happy. It’s just something I want to do. It’s beautiful.
[Tony] Yeah, I was going to say it’s not really like a band to us; it’s kind of like more like family, to be honest, ‘cause we’ve all grown up with each other.
[Mias] To me, music is like, I guess, my life. I’ve done everything in my life - has been dedicated to music and I just love to do it with my boys. I think you know we have really good chemistry. We have really good chemistry and it’s just fun. We barely even like get into fights. We’re always laughing over stupid shit and like, it’s just fun. That’s the added plus to it when you do something you love.
[Andrew] For me, I really like music ‘cause music’s always been a part of my life. I can’t go a day without listening to music. I feel like nobody should be able to go a day without listening to music. Music is like – makes you feel emotions and is a good way to get your emotions out. Especially playing on a stage in front of people. Good way to get rid of your social anxiety, all that. It’s honestly just fun. Sometimes it can get stressful with time management. You know, I have a job, go to school, all that, but at the end of the day, when I’m up on that stage like it’s a different feeling. It’s really fun. I really enjoy it. And I’m here with all my, you know, friends. Known them forever, it feels like. Yeah, it’s really fun. It’s really cool.

Yeah! I love that. So, obviously we’re at a Halloween show; do you guys have a dream, like, Halloween song that you would love to cover as a band?
[Ramar] Go ahead, you got it.
[Andrew] “What’s New Scooby-Doo?”
Okay, I do like that. I do like that.
[Tony] That’s like the Halloween song.
[Ramar] That is the Halloween song.
[Andrew] You got something?
[Tony] Hmmm, it’s going to have to be the same. That’s like thee Halloween song.
[Ramar] The “Monster Mash.” I want to play the “Monster Mash.”
That would be good.
[Mias] I – I’m a little jazz nerd so I’ll say, “The Great Pumpkin Waltz,” from Charlie Brown.
No, that’s a – I was waiting for someone to say that because I love that song.
[Mias] I love that song too. Straight banger.
As a band, where do you guys kind of grab inspiration from? Whether that be musically, or if it’s just stuff in real life that you kind of pass by that gives you inspiration.
[Ramar] King Krule is the biggest – what’d you call it – inspiration for me. And a little bit of, who else, Dean Blunt.
[Tony] Most of our music is like – we take it from like our real-world experiences. “If You Insist,” is about a girl I dated in high school. It’s kind of stupid. All of our songs are about like – it’s mostly about our exes if you think about it.
[Mias] We’re really heart broke. We’re lover boys.
So, you guys are like Taylor Swift?
[Tony] Kind of. For “Maybe,” he’s singing about a girl that he didn’t date.
[Mias] “Maybe,” is a song I wrote about my ex, and I wanted to like, kill myself. It’s horrible, but it sounds crazy. It sounds beautiful. It’s mad depressing but it’s like, you’re dancing to it.
That’s what music’s for.
[Mias] You’re dancing to it. Yeah.
[Tony] Music wise though, Puma Blue, King Krule, you got anyone else?
[Mias] I don’t really get inspiration from music, so.
He’s original.
[Mias] No, I’m trying to get deeper. I’m trying to give them content. Like, come on. Nah, I get really like – inspiration comes a lot from my family, for real. And my friends.
That’s nice.
[Mias] But yeah, it’s just like my family plays a big part in my life, you know. I love them. I’m sure we all love our families. I hope.
Just you.
[Mias] It’s just me.
It’s just you.
[Mias] They play a big part in inspiration for me. More than music, I feel like.
[Andrew] Yeah for me, same thing. I was going to say that, but you know I’m last, so he stole my answer.
It’s okay.
[Andrew] Yeah, I get inspiration from my friends, my family, these guys right here inspire me a lot. You know, they’ve been doing music for a long time. I got to shout out Seb, Sebastian, he is –
[Tony] Get him in the frame.
[Andrew] The Chipotle burrito. This my friend, my brother Sebastian, you know he’s been with me through a lot. Back when I was homeless, he offered for me to stay at his crib. You know trying times, and he’s always been there for me. He loves music, so like he loves music on a level that I don’t even like. Like he’s different. He’s different when it comes to music.
He’s just different.
[Andrew] So like, I take inspiration from him a lot. That’s really it.
Do you guys have a favorite show that you’ve played together as a band?
[Tony] Yeah, that one’s easy. Freedom City Studios.
[Mias] I was going to say the same thing.
[Tony] We got all of our friends to come out.
[Mias] That jawn was packed. You could not walk like an inch. It was fucking packed.
I bet that feels really good too, to perform.
[Mias] It felt crazy.
[Tony] Innlet and Echo Plum, dude.
[Mias] When they were first, like –
[Andrew] Yo, shout out Innlet. I love Innlet. Echo Plum too.
[Tony] Yo, shout out, who’s the guitarist? What’s his name? Shout out Levi.
[Andrew] Levi. Shout out all of them.
I actually just messaged them to do an interview.
[Andrew] What’s his name?
[Tony] It’s Matt, right? See, I knew that. It’s Matt. Yo, Matt is my guy.
[Mias] Yeah, I’d say that’s my favorite show too.
We’ll cut the struggling out.
[Mias] That show was crazy bro.
[Tony] It kind of introduced us to the studio that we went to, too.
[Mias] Innlet is like our boys.
[Andrew] We played like shit that day though. We were fucking awful bro.
But the energy was there.
[Andrew] We might not have played the best that we played but like everybody loved us from that show. And that show, there was so many people.
[Tony] Kyle from Disposed Hard Core stepped on Ramar’s microphone and fucking ripped it. And so, we didn’t have a mic that whole show.
[Mias] Kyle’s the boy though. Kyle’s the GOAT.
[Tony] Kyle’s the GOAT. Shout out Kyle.
Okay, nice! My last question is just – do you guys have any upcoming music or news as a band that you could share with us?
[Tony] December 14th, Pa Que Vean, that’s our first EP that’s coming out. If you – I don’t think we named like any of the songs during the show – but it’s going to be “Maybe,” “Storm,” “Morir Soñando,” and “Coup de Grace,” that we’re going to be doing on the EP.
We’re getting the full track list. This is like an exclusive interview everyone.
[Mias] Firstly here, this is the announcement. Type shit.
[Tony] December 14th.
Alright, well that’s everything I have, so you guys played a great show; thank you for letting me talk with you guys.
[Ramar] Thank you for having us too.
[Mias] That was amazing.
[Ramar] I’m very excited to be getting interviewed.
Yeah, of course.
[Mias] This is like a dream for all of us, real shit. Like we did not expect to be here. Anchor Rock Club? Like come on bro. We deadass used to talk about like, “Yo, what if we get a BE HERE NOW show,” and look where we’re at. [Chris] is the GOAT. We love BE HERE NOW.
Well yeah, that’s everything!
