Interview with Super Jack and Friends at Anchor Rock Club
With his latest album, It’s Not Always Rainbows, released just last month on the 17th of October, Super Jack is on the run with now two separate albums in under one year. Known well in the local New Jersey scene, Jack is notorious for his genre-bending and collaboration-filled records. With a passion for never remaining stagnant in sound, he is always looking for ways to build upon what he’s done and knows already. After his Mollyween set, I got the opportunity to talk with him and a few of his friends/collaborators to discuss his work ethic and approach to his own music.
This interview took place on October 24, 2025.
Could everyone introduce themselves and their costumes?
[Super Jack] I'm Super Jack. The titular Super Jack. I am dressed up as myself, as I usually am. I was trying to be Pee-wee Herman, but I didn't have the time to properly get it together. I was missing the bow tie, and you need the bow tie.
[Kaiser Unique] I'm Kaiser Unique. I'm also dressed as myself because I think I look good.
[Advantz’d] I go by the name of Advantz’d. I'm also dressed as myself. We're all ourselves tonight.
[LJ The Angel] I’m LJ The Angel, also dressed as myself.
[Max Volante] I'm Max. I’m dressed as a Gen Z Hunter. Wait, no, no. I'm dressed as a Gen Z blue-collar hunter, but I'm a vampire on a night shift.
You just released an album last week, which is your second album this year. How do you stay motivated and on track with such a heavy catalog of music to be put out, written, and recorded?
[Super Jack] Well, not all the albums are the same. They have similarities, obviously. I have themes that I explore, but they're all kind of playing with genre. It's not nine rock albums or nine electronic albums or nine R&B albums. It's kind of nine albums that shuffle those things around, so that makes it easy, honestly, just not sticking to one niche.
Your sound is not singular at all. You tend to blend a variety of genres with collaborations, as we see here. Why is that so important to you?
[Super Jack] I mean, it's more fun making music with other people. It gets repetitive to do the same thing by yourself. You start to be like, “I'm making type-beats of myself. I’ve used this chord before, I’ve used this instrument. Let me get an advanced beat in the mix. Let me talk to Max Volante a little bit, let me get some rap on it, because I don't rap.”
[Advantz’d] Absolutely, collaboration is super important because you have to be versatile. It helps you to really step outside the box. That's really why we all collaborate on so many different-sounding songs. You have to have something for everybody.
[Kaiser Unique] I'm a big fan of all Super Jack's collabs. I've never heard him collab with someone I don't like. I'm very much a fan of the Advantz’d and Super Jack collab. I started working with Advantz’d, and I really liked this idea of Jack on something lo-fi.
[Super Jack] He put me on to Advantz’d. He was the one who told me to work with him. He's got ideas like that.
[LJ The Angel] I think that we all flow off of each other whenever we do work together. We were talking about this earlier, just bouncing off ideas and getting inspiration from each other while we're working on the project is really cool.
[Max Volante] I love Super Jack.
[Super Jack] And I love Max Volante.
[Max Volante] He's got the best voice. This man's voice is just so good on every microphone. He's so wacky and whimsical. He's the best. Super whimsical.
If you guys had your choice to cover any Halloween song, what would it be?
[Super Jack] A lot of songs are spooky. If we're talking specifically Halloween, maybe that Eraserhead song. That song is vibey, but I've been feeling “Our Love Has Died” by the Ohio Players a lot lately. That feels kind of spooky to me.
[Advantz’d] I'd love to make something with the Michael Myers [Halloween] theme song. That little piano is super dope.
[Kaiser Unique] I just think a lot of soul is scary. I'm not going to hold you. They'll be singing about the love of their lives, but it'll be feeling like it’s on threatening terms. What's going to happen if it doesn't work out?
[LJ The Angel] I don't normally do covers, but if I had to cover a song that's Halloween themed, it would be “Yonkers” by Tyler Creator. A fair amount of Tyler could work.
You place a heavy emphasis on visuals as part of your artist identity. What has been your favorite thing you've done for yourself that's not musical?
[Super Jack] Well, I don't make the visuals. I got to shout out my friend Dotty. He does them. Sometimes I sketch them and he finishes them out, but most of the time I just tell him what vibe I want, and then he comes back with something. A lot of what I do is on the musical side, and I'm lucky to know a lot of talented people to help fill in the gaps where I can’t. I guess really what I mean is that I don't know what else I do that's not music.
What are you looking forward to the most in the future musically?
[Super Jack] I got some records coming. I got some more with Max, I got some more with Advantz’d, and I definitely got some more with Kaiser. I need to make some more with you, LJ. But you know, I got some mournful stuff coming.
[Advantz’d] We are really excited to bring more people into this vision, and to reach as many people as we can with our music.
